Nick and I were in Chicago this past weekend for my friend Kathleen's wedding. I will post more on the weekend's festivities, including pictures, later, but for now I wanted to address a hot topic in the weekend's discussions with friends and family. For those who don't know, a Naval Aviator has perhaps the easiest life aboard an aircraft carrier. Yes, it's tedius to fly for hours on end ... there's paperwork ... there are duty days ... occasionally you have to climb up and down ladders all day when it's your turn to stand "tower flower" ... BUT. Then there's the X-Box playing, the DVD watching, and, when all else bores the men to tears, they make .............. videos. Of the squadron guys. Lip-synching. And because Naval Aviators (with the notable exception of the fighter jocks) are funny as hell, these videos of men in flight suits wasting time aboard an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Persian Gulf are, in turn, funny as hell.
So, for your viewing pleasure, I give you the links for three of the best videos you'll ever see of a wardroom of aviators lip synching to pop tunes while aboard a Naval vessel (during combat operations).
THIS ONE is from the Sun Kings (VAW 116), an E-2C squadron from Pt. Magu, CA
THIS ONE is also from the Sun Kings, singing Hey Ya ... If the first one gets an A, this one gets a B+, but it DOES include the entire squadron, not just the wardroom.
THIS ONE is from another E-2C squadron, VAW 113 (the Black Eagles), synching to All American Rejects "Move Along." It gets high marks for editing, but somehow the energy level isn't quite as high as the Sun Kings'.
Happy buffering!
