Home in June

In our most recent travel news, Nick and I were back in Chicago in June for an extended weekend for my friend Tara's wedding. We were able to come in early enough to spend some pre-wedding quality time with Nick's brother Matt and our nephew Braydan who had come up from St. Louis for the week, which was a treat.

We had the pleasure of experiencing the Chicago summer doozy ... thunderstorms followed by searing heat. Thankfully, we spent the hottest day at Navy Pier - the wind was so strong that day it really kept the temperature at the waterfront down. And it was cool enough in the morning and evening to play out in the yard.

Though Braydan was excellent at pedaling himself around the yard, he seemed to have a lot more fun when Nick pushed him super fast. And after a few minutes of this, Nick the Engineer found a method that didn't kill his back ...

At Navy Pier, we had a grand time at the Children's Museum with our favorite little guy. He got to be a rocker, a builder, an archaeologist, and a plumber:

Nick spent another day with the guys, including the other brother Chris who had also come up from St. Louis for the weekend, while I spent the day with Tara and the other bridesmaids. We got our nails done, picked up the flowers for her hair, and checked into the hotel before the wonderful rehearsal dinner at Maggianno's. It was like a pre-wedding reception - deluxe!

The wedding was gorgeous, as was the bride, and it was truly Tara and Danny. The ceremony and reception were at West Loop Studio, a gallery space. It had great views out picture windows and sunset was lovely.

And here's the bride and groom after heading back down the aisle:

We have business trips to London (Nick) and Quebec City (me) coming up, so I'm sure there will be pictures to follow ... will post those when I can!

I never realized until recently how difficult it is to master pedaling.
