HEADLINE: Husband left alone, nothing burns down

First of all, I should mention that this is actually Nick posting here. If this isn't truly my first post, it is my first in a long, LONG time! So, those of you who might be considered regular readers will have to return at a later date to get the more advanced writings of the head Krakblogger - Erin is still away on a little vacation, but will return this weekend.

She will certainly have many details, and I would assume ever more photos, to share once she's back and settled. But for now I just figured I'd chime in to note that I have recovered fairly quickly. And although I'm not completely healed (I'm sure that process will take the better of 4-6 weeks), I was able to return to the point of walking of my own power by last weekend and went back to driving myself to work this past week. Don't get me wrong - having chauffeur service didn't suck. But not needing it is better. And, I'm very happy that I didn't need Erin to cancel her trip to stay behind and take care of my broken self. That truly would have made this whole thing much worse!

I suppose the timing was rather fortunate. My parents came into town over the long holiday weekend, a visit which had already been planned. I recovered enough to still show them around town (as opposed to just showing them around the apartment and asking for couch-side service), but definitely took advantage of having someone else drive and haul up groceries for a few more days. Though, the similarity between my hobbled walk and my father's other-knee-needing-to-be-repaired gait was WAY to close for my liking. That might be the biggest motivator for me to recover and get back to normal out there! (But it was kind of funny.)

So yes, I'm still in one (albeit limping) piece. Cats haven't killed each other or destroyed anything important. And Erin will soon return from her Yucatan adventure and future posts will go back to her superior descriptions and much enjoyed pictures! Can't wait ...
- Nick
